There is always discussions about being qualified or having experience, when you are recruiting. Most of the people would say of course the academic background is crucial in the job they are recruting for but a new research has revealed that they do the opposite in real world. I have been to a seminar which was nearly for the same thing. To be honest about 99% of the people in the seminar which were from Hotel Manager's to managing boards and even Sir.Roco Forte himself, they all were saying academic knowledge is more important for them. There were only 2 gentlemen as far as I can remember which were honest enough to say most of their staff have actual work experience rather than the degree or academic background.
I do not say that academic background is nothing but if you have the actual experience you can gain academic one as well while you are working. But when you have your degree without job experience it is very fortunate to get a good job of course if you be honest and provide the employer with actual truth rather than bringing loads of letters from your family company or relatives recommendations.

Anyway, you can read the new here yourself.[Travel Industry...]
